About
So you are curious in knowing who the MarketingDad is…
Ok, where should I start. Well all began in 1967… just kidding.
To keep things short and to the point MarketingDad came to be because of a promotion I held for my son for Christmas 2006. He really wanted a Wii for christmas so I told him we would create a product and sell it so he could learn what his dad does and also get his Wii.
We started planning his promotion and since he was only 7 years old I decided to name the site MarketingKid.com.
All was well until we started having problems with our Credit Card Processors who said we couldn’t use them on a site owned by a kid. Anyways because of this we created MarketingDad.com to be able to have his sale.
The sale was great and Ricky got his Wii. You can see his pictures on the MarketingKid Members Link.
After this, the MarketingDad name kind of stuck and Harris Fellman recommended I brand myself as MarkeginDad because it was something people can relate to and also because that is my mission, to be able to market online while working from home and to be able to spend more time with my kids.
Why do I have my picture at the beach as the top banner?
Well even though that picture was taken at Cancun, I live in El Salvador, Central America, and the beach is only 30 minutes away from my house. I wanted to use a picture of the beach in El Salvador, but being the good father that I am, all the pictures I have only have my lovely wife and my 2 kids. Yes, I know there is a thing called tripod and I just got one, so I’ll be changing the one picture in the near future.
What do I do?
Well I fell in love with computers at 13 when I got my first Commodore VIC20. I studied electronics and I first got online in 1994.
I really like helping people so I decided I could match my tech skills with their visibility needs and opened the first web design company in El Salvador in 1996. I managed the company for 4 years and sold it in 2001. (I think it was to early for the country)
I’ve been working as the ecommerce manager of an airline since 2001 and finally discovered the concept of Information Marketing around 2005 (I had been blinded by society up till then).
I enjoy tech stuff, but I don’t do any programming because I have always believed I can get someone else to do it cheaper than me. So that leaves me playing and testing different types of scripts.
I am great finding stuff online and I love figuring out how things work, or in most cases why things don’t work. If a friend can’t find something online or can’t figure out how something works, for sure they call me.
I am constantly trying to improve my copywritting skills. this is something I think you can never bee to good at. And even though I don’t expect to become a copywritter I do feel it is an extremely important skill.
Even though I have been marketing online since 1995 I had my real Aha moment in October 2006 (in other words I started making money consistently) and I have been doing pretty well ever since.
My products have been mostly a repackaging of Resale Rights and selling them at 7DaySpecial.com but I am working on a couple of applications. (I’ve become pretty good creating application requirements documents).
If you need help and I have some free time, I would love to give you a hand. What you have to do is JustAskTheDad.com
